Place the pear, sultanas and dates into a saucepan with half a cup of water and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Next add the bicarb soda and let it fizz for about a minute. Then add the butter to melt followed by the maple syrup and eggs and mix well
Let the mixture cool a little then add it to a bowl with the flour and mix well. Pour the mixture into a greased cake tin and bake for about 30 minutes on 180.
With 10 minutes to go make the sauce. Add the butter to a saucepan to melt. Then add the maple syrup and cream
and stir. Add a little corn flour with water to thicken and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. Serve it
generously over the warm pudding.
